BDG Die Casting Committee meets at the Chair of Casting Technology

On October 23, 2025, the Die Casting Committee of the Bundesverbands der Deutschen Gießerei-Industrie (BDG – German Casting Industry Association) met at the Chair of Casting Technology at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg in Fürth. Experts from industry, research, and associations exchanged views on current developments, research projects, and technological trends in the field of die casting.

After a welcome by Dr. Keidies and Ms. Diederichs-Mittler from the BDG and an overview of personnel and business topics, the program continued with a series of exciting technical presentations. Among other things, current work by the Chair of Casting Technology and Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH was presented, along with innovative approaches to waste heat recovery and efficiency improvement, as well as possibilities for integrating industrial waste heat into district heating networks. In addition, projects such as ReGAIN and new research priorities in the field of die casting were presented and discussed in the “Research and Development” section.

Before lunch, there was also a tour of the department, during which participants were given an insight into current research and testing facilities. At the end of the event, the BDG provided information on current developments in the association’s work, including new technical guidelines and key topics for upcoming meetings.
