Research topics of the institute are among others the development and advancement of future-oriented casting processes, especially in the field of permanent mold casting. A main focus of the research is thus in the area of tool technology.
Another goal is to obtain autonomous, self-optimizing casting processes – with lower process emissions and better predictable component properties at the same time. For this purpose, a deeper integration of numerical simulation and optimization methods into product development as well as process design and monitoring is being investigated.
