    Technical Equipment

As a newly founded Chair of Casting Technology, we make use of casting technology equipment on the one hand and current equipment and systems for material characterization on the other.

Furthermore, we use powerful hardware for computer-aided methods and also make use of the high-performance computing capacities of our university.

Currently, we operate a program-controlled vacuum/pressure casting machine including the necessary peripherals for our research and teaching activities. The casting process carried out here has a very similar operating principle compared to the investment casting process.

Furthermore, we are setting up another casting cell in the area of permanent forming processes.

Since the chair is under build-up, the equipment is still being continuously expanded.

    Vacuum pressure casting machine -VC650
    Vacuum investment machine – InduMix4+
    Dewaxing oven – Nabertherm N100
    3D Printer – Formlabs Form 3

Data Acquisition System – NI cDAQ 9189
Temperature Measurement Module – NI 9212
Fibre optical measurement system – Luna ODiSI 6101
Fine point stapler – Weldotherm TP2S
    Splicer – ShinewayTech OFS-95
Laser confocal microscope – OLYMPUS LEXT OLS5100

For compute-intensive applications, we use local compute capacities:

4 x Dell Precision Workstation, Intel Xeon Processor 8 – 18 Cores, Nvidia Quadro A4000.

For more complex computations we also use the HPC cluster of the FAU.
